The Music Comission of the Círculo del Liceo hosted the screening of the documentary "El amor y la muerte" about he life of the spanish composer Enrique Granados, signed by the director Arantxa Aguirre.
"El amor y la muerte" recreates the passionate and stormy story of the composer Enrique Granados in the Barcelona of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, his trips to Madrid, Paris and New York, the struggle for life and his first triumphs... The story is mixed with new versions of his masterpieces by interpreters such as Rosa Torres-Pardo, Evgeny Kissin, Cañizares, Arcángel, Rocío Márquez, Carlos Álvarez or Nancy Fabiola Herrera, among others.
Arantxa Aguirre has a doctorate in Hispanic Philology and has developed a long professional career linked to the world of cinema, forming part of the team of directors such as Mario Camus, Pedro Almodóvar, Carlos Saura or Luis García Berlanga, among others. She has participated in numerous international festivals, being awarded at Documenta Madrid and at the WOW Film Festival for American swan in Paris. Her latest film, Dancing Beethoven, was nominated for the Goya Awards.
The event featured a presentation by Jorge de Persia, musicologist and professor.
