The Círculo del Liceo hosted the presentation of the book "Los años de Aznar: Una crónica histórica de quién estuvo allí para contarlo" by Sergio Gómez-Alba, politician and businessman.
The book is a chronicle of the most relevant events that occurred during the Popular Party governments that elapsed from 1996 to 2004. The transition from a social democratic government to a liberal center closes the cycle of democratic consolidation in Spain. Today, 25 years later, is a good time to review such momentous issues as privatizations, entry into the Euro, industrial policy for competitiveness and so many far-reaching decisions that allowed the expansion of our companies around the world, becoming authentic multinationals .
Sergio Gómez-Alba has a degree in Political Science and Sociology. He joined the Popular Party of Catalonia at the hands of Alejo Vidal-Quadras, and has been secretary of training and deputy general electoral secretary of the Barcelona PP and member of the National Board of Directors of the Popular Party. He has also been a deputy to Congress for the province of Barcelona in the general elections of 1993, 1996 and 2000.
The event featured a presentation by Manuel Pimentel, editor and writer, in addition to having been Minister of Labor and Social Affairs between 1999 and 2000 during the government of José María Aznar.
